Madagascar food tour is special road trip we have developed to help you discovering the local cuisine, culture, nature and a total adventure for you, your friends why not your family?

The food tours are spread around Madagascar, our local guides and team will help you to experience these and partly on the same style as Anthony Bourdain from Unkown Part Madagascar and Sonny Side from the Best Ever Food Review Show  enjoyed the trip.

Here we share sample of Itinerary with minimum days to organize a food tour in Madagascar



Day 1: Flight arrival in Tana

Welcome to Madagascar!

The crew will be picked up at the International airport of Ivato with a sign contains your name, meeting the accompanying guide, he will assist you on local currency changes, other formalities before heading to the Lodge (Ecole Lodge Antananarivo) 15km out of the airport in a very calm and lovely highland places.

Upon in the place there will be a short briefing. Dinner composed of “Romazava, Lasary, Akoho ritra “at the lodge with the local specialties of this region and to allow you already to taste that. Before going to bed, the house will be delighted to offer you ‘’Rhum Arrange’’.

Day 2: Antananarivo

Take breakfast at the Lodge with a typical dish called “Vary amin’anana sy Kitoza’’, coffee and other things. The team will take you to visit the Imerina typical village’s around, in order to learn more about their daily life, what they eat, or do… during that walk, a possibility of filming can be planned and we will see details. Afterward, we will drive to Talatan’ny Volon’ondry in where the people of the village are living on “Koba” and sausages; they will share with us the recipes’ on how those important Malagasy meals are. The afternoon, we will drive back to the place called 67 ha in where will explore evening life, street food… if time will allow, we will visit the city center, through its independence avenue, Anosy lake…

Day 3: Antananarivo – Antsirabe

After breakfast, follow National road n7, the road lingers through the hilly terraced highland and after 50 km you will pass through the village called Behenjy in where you can learn the secret of a cuisine based on “Foie Gras”* Seasonal, afterward continuation to Ambatolampy (70km  out of capital), in where you can visit an aluminum pot atelier. FYI, all pots used by Malagasy people are all from this small town, now a day they start to produce other objects apart of pots in order to target other clients. Continuation to Antsirabe, lunch will be arranged with locals in whom are occupied of their daily life work. As soon as you enter the town the roads are buzzing with colorful pousse-pousse (rickshaw).

Day 4: Antsirabe – Fianarantsoa

Breakfast at the guest house, the “Vary amin’anana sy Kitoza” should be always present there but in addition, the house will be glad to offer “Mofo gasy sy Ramanonaka” after that, visit the city to Antsirabe in where the team can take a ride with “Pousse-pousse”, continuation to Ambositra a small town in which really famous about the woodcarving activities, this activity is harmed because of the slush and burn in which reign everywhere, because of education and lack of works local people are using the natural resources on their possession. After that, continuation till the 2nd biggest town of Madagascar called Fianarantsoa after Antananarivo in term of population number.

 Day 5: Fianarantsoa – Manakara

Breakfast at hotel, drive till the train station to pick up the unique train of the day, destination east ward in a village called Sahambavy. This village is known about its tea plantation. After that, continue till Manakara by car, passing through the rain forest and evergreen landscapes. End of afternoon we will be at the fishermen village’s of Manakara.

Day 6: Manakara

This day will be special as we need to wake up early to meet the fishermen arrivals from the sea, we will prepare a great day to be spent with the local people in order to know what their favorite meals, on what are all these based. The aim will figure out special dish based on local products:

“Kadaka Forapaigna”, “ravikazaha sy voanjo”, “Kalapaky”, “Crevettes sy langoustes”, “Mofo akondro”

Day 7: Manakara – Lokomby

Breakfast at the hotel, start to drive to the small village called Lokomby in where we will meet locals of the Antemoro tribe or the descendent of Arabian and Indonesian people, this day will be special as not only they are happy to receiving you as guests but also happy because of today is an occasion to communicate with their ancestors. Zebu, Toka Gasy, dancing are in the program of this adventure.

Day 8: Manakara – Ranomafana

Drive to Ranomafana, on program is to spot the lemurs which are unique in nature of Madagascar, day and night walk will be programmed.

Day 9: Ranomafana – Ambositra

Breakfast at the lodge then visit Ranomafana village, after that continuation to Ambositra a small town in which really famous about the woodcarving activities, this activity is harmed because of the slush and burn in which reign everywhere, because of education and lack of works local people are using the natural resources on their possession.

Overnight at Artisan Hotel on BB or similar

Day 10: Ambositra – Tana

Drive back to the capital, some stops can be planned along the way.

Day 11: Tana –out

Transfer to the airport for your international flight back to your country.
